Dear Boys (ディア・ボーイズ), also officially known as Hoop Days, is the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name. A 26-episode anime television series adaptation produced by A.C.G.T. was aired in Japan from April to September 2003 every Monday at 6:25 p.m.
The series is licensed by Bandai Entertainment.
Synopsis[]
Kazuhiko Aikawa was the captain of Tendōji High's prestigious basketball team. He moves into a new town to attend Mizuho High and joins its basketball team. However, Mizuho boys' basketball team is far from being prestigious, in fact, it's a now defunct basketball team. Nevertheless to say, Aikawa's persistence, passion and basketball skills inspired other team members of the dysfunctional basketball team to gear up and start practicing again.
The aim is to play in the Inter-High, the national tournaments where all young and talented basketball players from all over the country meet in basketball competition. The tale of youth of five team members: Kazuhiko Aikawa, Takumi Fujiwara, Ranmaru Miura, Tsutomu Ishii, and Kenji Dobashi have just began.

A sports series about basketball. The story is set at Mizuho, a high school in Kanagawa Prefecture. The protagonist's breakthrough and its growth process are depicted. Surrounding it, problems that can occur in club activities such as discord between members, and anything else. Also, school life, romance, poverty, family problems, and a wide range of themes such as past trauma of the characters are delicately depicted.

Alike to the 1998 anime Initial D, the anime adaptation of Dear Boys features a soundtrack of Eurobeat licensed by Avex Trax. This must be because OB Planning, were the same studio which made the first season of Initial D.
The opening theme song is Sound of Bounce by DA PUMP, while the ending theme song is Baller no Shōgō by Chris F.
